چکیده

The early reionization of the intergalactic medium, which is favored from the WMAP temperature-polarization cross-correlations, contests the validity of the standard scenario of structure formation in the cold dark matter cosmogony. It is difficult to achieve early enough star formation without rather extreme assumptions such as very high escape fraction of ionizing photons from proto-galaxies or a top-heavy initial mass function. Here we propose an alternative scenario that is additional fluctuations on small scales induced by primordial magnetic fields trigger the early structure formation. We found that ionizing photons from Population III stars formed in dark haloes can easily reionize the universe by z ≃ 15 if the strength of primordial magnetic fields is larger than 0.6× 10Gauss.

The Origin of Primordial Magnetic Fields

Fields of intensities similar to those in our galaxy are also observed in high redshift galaxies, where a mean field dynamo would not have had time to produce them. Therefore, a primordial origin is indicated. It has been suggested that magnetic fields were created at various primordial eras: during inflation, the electroweak phase transition, the quark-hadron phase transition (QHPT), during th...

Generation of primordial magnetic fields on linear overdensity scales.

Magnetic fields appear to be present in all galaxies and galaxy clusters. Recent measurements indicate that a weak magnetic field may be present even in the smooth low density intergalactic medium. One explanation for these observations is that a seed magnetic field was generated by some unknown mechanism early in the life of the Universe, and was later amplified by various dynamos in nonlinear...

S-Z power spectrum produced by primordial magnetic fields

Primordial magnetic fields generated in the very early universe are one of the candidates for the origin of magnetic fields observed in galaxy clusters. After recombination, the Lorentz force acts on the residual ions and electrons to generate density fluctuations of baryons. Accordingly these fluctuations induce the early formation of dark halos which cause the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich (S-Z) effect ...

Probing Primordial Magnetic Fields with the 21cm Fluctuations

Primordial magnetic fields possibly generated in the very early universe are one of the candidates for the origin of magnetic fields observed in many galaxies and galaxy clusters. After recombination, the dissipation process of the primordial magnetic fields increases the baryon temperature. The Lorentz force acts on the residual ions and electrons to generate density fluctuations. These effect...

The Stability of Primordial Magnetic Fields Produced by Phase Transitions

Primordial magnetic fields seem to be a generic relic of phase transitions in the early universe. We consider a primordial electromagnetic field formed as a result of a second-order phase transition, and show that it is stable to thermal fluctuations in the period immediately following. We also show how such a field arises in first order phase transitions. In both cases there is a transitive el...
